@rev.gerlynhenry: Traveling makes us better people, if we allow ourselves to be taught. One of the accounts I really respect is @itravelforpeace #ffab🕊️ 🇳🇴 She does incredible work in bringing young people places to learn about what peace means. Thank God for Aotearoa New Zealand and Māori people. #aotearoa #newzealand #progressiveclergy
As someone from Aotearoa New Zealand, I'm so pleased to hear that this is what you saw. Unfortunately we do have a (vocal) portion of our population that feel threatened by the growing use of everyday te reo, including our current government. But the majority of kiwis are on board and te reo use is spreading.
I have started seeing references to Turtle island popping up on TikTok a lot recently. I hope it takes root in everyday use, like down here. Kia kaha!

@Rachel Thomas: Kia ora, thank you for acknowledging the work we have have done in Aotearoa. There is more work to do, unfortunately we do still have resistance and stale ideologies that push back however I like to believe we want better, we love and want to keep our uniqueness part of which is our indigenous culture. I am bred of colonisers however I am kiwi and to be kiwi is to appreciate, show love, practice the language, and the purpose of our people.

I am from Australia. I’ve noticed that as well Re NZ. In Australia it’s so much harder to acknowledge the history of colonialism in Australia.

Language matters so much. Reconcilliation and peace work starts with language. Especially when we use the slur and language of perpetrators. Thank you so much for the mention 🤩🫶🏻🕊️I love your content.

I’m from Illinois, so I kinda do that because that is an Anglicization of the Gallicized name of one of the people groups who lived here. All kidding aside, this is both convicting and inspiring. I wish I could do more to set that right and make indigenous people whole.

Describing "settler" as a beautified word makes so much sense, it tends to mute the profound violence used towards native peoples.
