🚨🐂😂 WE DROVE TO THE WICOMICO COUNTY FAIR TO WATCH THE CATTLE JUDGING… AND APPARENTLY THE COMPETITION WASN’T VERY STIFF. ONLY ONE COW SHOWED UP. 😂🐄🏆 Friday night after work, the wife and I decided to have a little DATE NIGHT and head over to the Wicomico County Fair — and overall, we had an AWESOME time. We specifically wanted to get there for the cattle judging. We showed up about 30 minutes after it was supposed to start and were shocked that it was already over. Then we found out why… 🐄 THERE WAS ONE COW. 😂😂😂 I guess that makes picking first place a little easier. 🏆 From there, we walked around checking out all the animals before making our way to one of the most important parts of ANY fair… THE FOOD. 😂🔥 And let me tell you — Phat Boyz food truck absolutely KILLED IT. 🔥 Brisket mac & cheese 🔥 Crab cake egg roll That crab cake egg roll was PHENOMENAL. Seriously, if you see these guys somewhere, TRY IT. Then it was time for something I’d really been looking forward to… 🤠🐎 THE HIGH SCHOOL RODEO. And these kids were IMPRESSIVE. They had a SIX-YEAR-OLD out there weaving poles on a horse like it was nothing. Meanwhile, I’m pretty sure at six years old I was struggling to keep a bicycle upright. 😂 We watched the kids riding, roping calves and competing, and I’ve gotta give a HUGE shoutout to every one of them. That stuff isn’t easy. It takes guts, practice, discipline and a ton of work to get out there and compete like that. 👏🔥 There was ONE part, though, that both my wife and I really struggled watching. The goat event. I’m all for rodeo traditions and competition, and I understand that people who grew up around rodeo may see it differently than we did. But watching the goats tied on leads pegged into the ground while contestants raced up on horseback, caught them and tied their legs just didn’t sit right with us. The goats looked terrified, and honestly, my wife started feeling sick watching it. I eventually had to walk away too. I’m not trying to attack the kids competing or anyone involved — they were participating in an event that was part of the rodeo. But if I could make ONE suggestion to the organizers for future fairs: 🙏 Consider getting rid of that particular goat event. There were SO MANY other impressive things these kids were doing that showcased their horsemanship, athleticism and hard work. Unfortunately, right around then the sky absolutely OPENED UP 🌧️😂 and between the rain and us being uncomfortable with the goat event, we ended up leaving before the bull riding. Of course, THAT was one of the things I was most excited to see. 🤦‍♂️😂 A couple people sent me videos afterward though, and it looked like those kids PUT ON A SHOW! 🐂🔥 Overall, we had a GREAT date night and really enjoyed experiencing the Wicomico County Fair. Great food. Great people. Talented young competitors. Farm animals. Rodeo. And apparently the easiest cattle championship in Maryland history. 😂🐄🏆 BIG SHOUTOUT to all the kids who competed and all the families, volunteers and people who put the work in behind the scenes to make events like this happen. Supporting LOCAL isn’t just about restaurants and businesses. It’s also about showing up for our fairs, our farmers, our kids and the traditions that bring our Eastern Shore communities together. ❤️ WHO ELSE WENT TO THE WICOMICO COUNTY FAIR THIS YEAR?! And most importantly… 😂 DID ANYBODY GET A PICTURE WITH THE UNDEFEATED CATTLE CHAMPION?! #WicomicoCountyFair #EasternShore #SupportLocal #Delmarva #Maryland @KristyMazloom
