Yes, that's really true and it exists, so everyone needs to be really careful about trusting someone.
Two years ago, at least 6 Filipino people were rescued by our Philippine government from Myanmar after becoming victims of human trafficking.
Someone they met online offered them a job to work overseas, and the salary they offered was very big, making it hard to say no, plus the benefits they offered.
They traveled all the way to Myanmar, only to find out they had become victims of a large human trafficking syndicate.
They were forced to scam foreign people around the world through online dating apps.
When the person started to fall in love with them, they would ask or start offering to invest something or ask for money.
They had a quota per day, and if they didn't meet it, they would be punished by being beaten with a hard wood stick 100 times, electrocuted, or punched.
When they were finally rescued, most of them were traumatized and had lots of bruises.some of them been killed too.
It's really scary.
