its also the shift from Abbys greif to Ellie's turning into the same drive for revenge. it didnt fix anything just passed the torch to Ellie. this is one of my favourite scenes in the game. Mel and Nora both not wanting to be apart of it also really got to me.

I love the lip curl in disgust when Manny spits on Joel. I don't think that she's against it necessarily, but it's an immediate reaction to an action which basically disgraces the person it's committed on or against. And we know that Abby is about Justice and honour (as she perceives it).

the biggest difference between them is ellie realized she wasnt going to cure her grief BEFORE killing abby, and abby only realized after that it didnt cure her grief! i think it shows a lot of contrast in their characters even though their paths become super silmilar! Plus also not being able to take back something so huge even when you know it was wrong

she's one the most misunderstood characters ever and it murders me EVERY TIME someone hates her just bc she killed Joel [cry]

she was searching for something to fill the hole her father feft and her side of the story is her desperately trying to understand how to be herself again. this scene is truly so impactful on both parts, abby realising that even with joel gone she couldnt be at peace and as she slowly becomes joel herself, and for ellies story battling with her ptsd ultimately becoming abby, sacrificing family and friendships for revenge, throwing herself into unwinnable battles just for a sense of relief.
