@offscriptsophie: We laid our Amtico Noble Oak parquet flooring ourselves, and it’s so much easier than it looks! We used Amtico HT adhesive (perfect for underfloor heating, just turn it off for 48hrs before & after). Spread the glue with a 2mm notched trowel, and then in true DIY style, gave it a professional roll down with the kitchen rolling pin 😂 To cut the Amtico planks neatly, I used a Stanley knife, cutting board, and right-angle square to get perfect edges. DIY tip: work in small sections so the adhesive doesn’t dry out too fast, you want about 10 minutes from spreading the glue to installing the planks. Save this post for when you’re ready to install your own Amtico parquet floor and prove you can DIY luxury flooring after all 😉

Okay, now do it with the skirtings and architraves on, round the toilet, round a kitchen island… and deal with laitence and lignite in the subfloor… 🤣 and also fit it without it stepping out

Great job, paying customers expect perfection, also it’s a different game when you have to scribe to skirting, end panels etc.

I’ve been doing it wrong for the last 32 years! 😂🤦‍♂️. Heads up. If you can buy it of the shelf , we don’t use those products in the flooring industry. And you won’t have a sniff of a warranty from any manufacturer. The subfloor will fail before the flooring does. That’s an expensive fix.

Where did you order it from? I’m about to buy a new build and they want to charge us £££££ for this in our bathrooms but we’re confident we could do it ourselves just wasn’t sure about buying it

the warranty only covers the flooring. I've been laying Amtico and Karndean for 20 years and never been a registered fitter. Well done you. it looks great 🙂

My friend lays flooring for a living. He recommended Invictus Maximus LVT instead of amtico and kardean, same quality at a fraction of the price. Over the moon with it, done 100m2 downstairs.

‘Amtico make it sound more specialist than it actually is’ 😅 most of the work is in the prep, and it’s not a case of just chucking some ‘self leveller’ down. It’s so much more than that like looking out for laitence on subfloor, dealing with damp, lignite, different heights and subfloors, the list is endless. And using knowledge and experience to know what products and tools to use and how to use them. I see you’ve fitted without any skirting, pipes or kitchen e.t.c to cut around which makes sense if you’re doing it yourself. However, if someone just wants to change floor coverings, they’re not going to take everything out, get the floor done, then put everything back in. So in that case they would need a ‘specialist fitter’ who knows how to scribe into skirting, pipes and kitchen panels e.t.c. Great job by yourself nonetheless 👌🏻

It’s more that a lot can go wrong with the prep if you don’t know what problems to look out for not so much the fitting

I’m a big DIY girl but when it came to one of my floors it was actually cheaper to get a local tradesman to do it! The cost of the flooring from B&Q was more expensive than the cost of the labour and the flooring that he could get from his supplier, so sometimes it is worth checking
