It’s the day after Halloween… and Santa’s already here 🎅🍫🍬 I walked into Tesco this morning and was met with a wall of Christmas chocolates and selection boxes right at the entrance — could it be any more predictable?!🤦‍♀️ It’s only the start of November and already the shelves are overflowing with festive sweets. There’s just no break anymore between one holiday and the next. This isn’t about Christmas spirit — it’s about profit. These products are highly profitable and supermarkets use seasonal occasions as an excuse to push them on us all year round. But imagine what could be done with this floor space instead?? We could be giving visibility to small Irish food producers who make high quality, health-supporting products and who support the local economy and local communities. People do want to be able to find these kinds of products, We’ve seen it through this movement — more and more people are reading labels, asking questions, and wanting better options. And it’s the local producers who are making the better options! They deserve to get more shelf space and more visibility in the major retailers!
