That particular shirt is designed to be worn untucked as well. The ones that have the front and back tails on them have to be tucked or they look ridiculous.

Where did you find it? That shirt is designed to be worn untucked as well. Many shirts are not and just look really bad untucked because of the shape of the tail.

it needs to be tailored in on the sides, it's like a one piece male middle east of African outfit that's been just chopped off. too much material for tucking

It’s a bit see through, but for me, it’s more about the fit. 🤔 You have lean a body. If you can use a sewing machine, I would remove/tailor under the arms down to the shirttail. That will improve the fit and avoid excess fabric bunching up at your sides. The sides of off-the-shelf shirts are cut to hide a wider belly 👏🏼
