@whoqjosl901: Blood clotting, or coagulation, is a multi-step process that prevents excessive bleeding when blood vessels are injured. It begins with vasoconstriction, where the vessel narrows to reduce blood flow. Platelets then adhere to the damaged site, activating and aggregating to form a temporary platelet plug. This triggers the coagulation cascade, involving a series of clotting factors that activate one another in a precise sequence. The intrinsic and extrinsic pathways converge at Factor X, leading to the conversion of prothrombin into thrombin, which then converts fibrinogen into fibrin. Fibrin forms a stable mesh that reinforces the clot, stopping bleeding and allowing tissue repair. Once healing occurs, the clot is dissolved by plasmin in a process called fibrinolysis.
