I was called into the office my first year of teaching and told it was a students last day because they were being sent into foster care….and they had no idea. I was instructed to discreetly pack all their things into a backpack and proceed through the day as normal. The worst part was him going about his day with no idea what was coming. I handed him off at dismissal and never saw him again. Single worst day of my teaching career even almost a decade later.
