@captainkatemccue: In Ancona today, we were treated to a front-row seat for Giornata dell’Unità Nazionale e delle Forze Armate (National Unity & Armed Forces Day). A day honoring Italy’s military forces and commemorating the end of WWI for Italy on November 4, 1918. Ships in the harbor, flags throughout the city, and the President of Italy presiding over the ceremony! I'm a sucker for the rumble of a jet engine! Blue Angels, Thunderbirds & Italy's iconic @freccetricolori get my heart throttled! Today's highlight was definitely the Frecce Tricolori flyover, streaking green, white, and red across the Adriatic sky. 🇮🇹 Fun Facts: • The day honors all branches of the Italian Armed Forces and those who served • The Frecce Tricolori are Italy’s national aerobatic team, founded in 1961 • They fly Aermacchi MB-339 PAN jets, typically 10 in formation + 1 solo • Their iconic tricolore smoke is made with biodegradable dyes and steam A proud moment watching history, honor, precision and a little sky-artistry right above the @fincantieri shipyard. #4Novembre #ForzeArmate #FrecceTricolori #ancona

I remember seeing Tri Colori when we were stationed in Italy as a kid. Our principal of our school would load us all on a bus and we would head off to the flight line to watch them! SO COOL!
