The way they’ve excused everything the child, the parent, and administrators did to cause this to happen BUT blame Abby because she *checks notes* …went to a concert and thought about being a hairstylist. 🙃 No better metaphor for the insane expectations placed on teachers and literally NO ONE ELSE.

as a future educator this case infuriates me. the audacity of the things said to this women and about this woman are wild. we are blaming the victim and not the child’s parents who left the gun where he could find it

I think about it so often. I work in a district that’s had a past shooting, everyone goes through metal detectors and has their bags checked every single day. I do feel safe there, thankfully. But knowing others don’t have these protocols scares me & the fact we even have to have them and think about these scenarios is sickening. I pray for teachers every day & for change.

I work at another school about a hour away from Abby’s and the discourse I’ve seen online is disgusting. The education field is a scary place these days.

Luckily never saw the negative forwards her. But working in a school hearing gun shots is def a big fear. My school only recently enacted new safety measures. Prior a teacher once in a while not recognizing me would get scared and understandably flag me down. I’ve never been upset or offended by it. We live in a scary world

The fact that this child required a parent to sit next to him while at school raises the “foreseeability” for the AP that the child required her attention when staff members are reporting to her about the possibility of a gun. The AP should have put her own eyes on him immediately. I wonder if the AP ever asked the parents if there are firearms or weapons in the home? Physicians ask that as a matter of routine. The defense’s “expert” should add that to her safety framework. Seems like common sense to me.
