@salialdigs: I never understood ‘not all screen-time is the same’ until we tried it with our kids, so here’s some of our experience using a tv vs. iPad! Screen-time is so tricky to navigate as a parent & I believe most of us are trying our best 🩷 I’d love to hear your thoughts on this in the comments!! #screentime #ipad #parenting #momlife #ipadkids
I can always tell the difference in behaviour when they’ve had too much screen time!

So glad you’re normalizing this. iPads are AWFUL for kids and yes it’s hard sometimes but in the long run we as parents are doing a huge disservice for giving them screens esp short form unregulated content (not talking about emergencies or traveling)

screen time for more than one hour per day is not good for kids, according to science

hiiii, i love your take & tbh, i think it makes a lotttt of sense. my only question is do you feel like they will overindulge once they have their own electronics? when you went to the Maldives & they had unlimited screen time, they treasured it a lot. i’m also trying to find a balance bc i fear restricting my kids in the beginning will only lead for it to backfire on me & them.

This is exactly me. My son owns an iPad but it is exclusively for travelling. At home he has a limited time watching TV at a specific time every day. We also prioritise getting outside in fresh air every single day.

Try parental control, you can turn off the ipads from your phone and you can control what apps they use, what they do and you can have access to what they done on the ipads.

You are doing their future selves SUCH A HUGE FAVOUR by limiting the screen time. I totally get it’s HARD for parents to manage, but children are psychologically incapable of managing it! Taking on that responsibility ensures their development is not stunted.

As a teacher - this is one of the best things you can do for them! It’s so clear in classrooms which kids have limited screen time and which don’t

I remember when you spoke about this a while ago and that made me switch as well. My son only gets a device when we're out but at home he only gets to watch TV. I can definitely see the difference in is behaviour
