Newsflash y'all. Putting a significant discount on something is a good incentive to get people to buy that item. This isn't news

This is insanity. While the rest of the world adopts EVs and their EV producers innovate, the US is regressing and holding on to gas powered cars. The US is being left in the dust and is becoming a backwater.

I'd love to have an ev but can't justify the extra cost right now over a similar hybrid. they need to get much cheaper

Tax credit ending pulled a lot of demand forward. Demand will certainly be lower for a while but it will absolutely increase eventually

We need to stop subsidizing fossil fuels and divert the subsidies to EVs instead

I have a Hyundai Ioniq 5 and it's absolutely incredible. I pay $14 a month to drive everyday to work 40 minutes each way. I used to pay $250 a month for gas. It's incredibly fast 0-60 in 4.4 seconds and so quiet.

Now that the government incentives are off, I wonder if Evie makers will reduce the pricing to recapture market. I wonder government EV incentives kept prices artificially high since the rebate significantly reduced the cost of the vehicle.

Yes, of course EV sales will go down. If you have a government which is so obsessed anti Electric, there is no way that this doesn’t happen.

The credit affected it for sure but what’s the auto markets numbers compared to last year or two years ago as well because I feel like people just can’t afford new cars anymore with the average being 50k

the more telling numbers will be in a few months to a few years. a lot of the sales that happened in September and before were people who rushed to get one, but otherwise would have purchased sometime in Q4.
in 2-3 years when all these EVs come off lease, a lot of people who got used to EVs will be looking for another one.

The ones that were going to purchase all purchased by the end of September. Now it's the ones that are considering purchasing it look at the other types of vehicles I bet their sales numbers aren't up look at the ice vehicles be fair

Or, people don't have the income right now because of the economy. Not because of a tax credit.

Like you said meny hurried to buy before tax credit ended but some will still be delivering oct, nov and dec. Even when they ordered September deliveries rolling q4. Really curious what gm and tesla will report. Q1 2026 will be the first big indicator to the effect off no more tax credit
