UK Marketer here I think this is bigger than social media. I think we’re going to see a whole shift in how people consume everything. People are already seeing offline as the new luxury so I’m predicting things like print media making a come back like magazines and newspapers, people buying dvds, cds and taking everything offline. I may be wrong but that’s what I can see atm

I’m not disagreeing, but are those stats slightly skewed due to Covid? 2020-2023 would have been peak Covid years, and people would have either been stuck in their homes, or choosing to stay home, with not much to do but spend time on their phone. 🤷♂

I don’t think it will die, but it sure will evolve, as it is now. Perhaps we might have different consumption habits. I’ve noticed that I don’t find influencers fun to watch, however, small creators who are just being themselves are more palatable TO ME. Being part of communities through these channels is a more fulfilling experience for me and others who’ve shared the same sentiments. We want value yes, but we don’t want to be sold to. We want to belong with people, relate, be seen. I’ve noticed that people who want to be seen use these platforms to achieve that and I love to watch that— people creating for themselves, not for brands, or to sell or whatever, but just to liberate themselves and find their community.

agree - Hollywood is junk - social media is about to become un-fun as national 'safety' laws gut the fun out of being online... Many folk will have less money. 'Real life' will come back. Dinner parties, bbqs, reading a novel, picnic in the park...

It’s going to become cool to be mysterious, not flashy, not loud, not constantly online. Being off-grid, private, and hidden will signal a higher social status. The new flex won’t be visibility, but freedom. Making money quietly, even in ways others might once have considered “embarrassing,” will matter more than public approval. As AI advances, it’s going to hold up a mirror to our behaviour, making us painfully aware of how compulsive and undignified constant phone-gluing really is!!!!!!
