Why do you think they believed in the bodily resurrection? Or even a spiritual resurrection? What purpose would it have served or symbology would it have represented for 1st century Jewish folks? I’ve always wondered what was the point of that part of the story.

It’s always a fascinating notion to hear how desperate many are to question Christ/the Bible itself while being more than ready to accept anything else in history… especially when you factor in the fact that we have over 25,000 manuscripts, compared to the barely 600 for something like Homer’s Iliad for example. But ironically, I don’t hear many people pushing back against that. Interesting right?

Both Jesus & Paul were apocalyptic preachers. They both claimed the coming of the son of man was imminent. In Matt 24:23 Jesus said this generation will see the son of man. Yet both failed in their prophecy

Christianity only took off and exploded once it aligned with empire. That empire could use a the Christian story to control and dominate the society, hence the dark ages

Thanks to Emperor Constantine the Great Christianity is as popular as it is today. However, Christians give him no credit for the Edict of Milan (313 BC), the First Council of Nicara (325BC) and the Nicene Creed, which dramatically propelled Christianity forward.
