Ideology is necessary when understanding politics, events and history. Political science is a science like any other and it needs a framework to be understood, ideology is just a lens used to do just that. however I can understand that labels may disrupt the real conversation if the conversation only focus on the label itself.

Isn’t it interesting how when we debate with people face-to-face we are almost never aware of their ideology? That’s how we find common ground. Online we firmly subscribe to ideologies and that makes the finding of common ground so much more difficult.

New York pays 384.4 billion in federal taxes. It receives 383 billion in federal funds meaning that for every dollar the federal government sends to New York, the taxpayers give the federal government $1.06 so yeah New York will be just fine

Disagree. Those word like socialism or capitalism they don't replace our identity. Those words have a strict definitions that describe how we organise the production. Using them is the correct way to describe how we think our societies are organised. Since the economy and the rest are linked, they help understand what direction our representatives, that are supposed to work for us, will be trying to take.
