It was serialized in Shueisha's Weeklv Young Jump.magazine from September 2011 to September 2014 with a direct sequel Tokvo Ghoul:re, running from 2014 to 2018. The manga has been adapted into multiple formats, including an anime series, novels, video games, and live-action films. Set in a modern-dav Tokyo, the story takes place in a world where human-like creatures called ahouls secretlv coexist with humans. Ghouls can onlv survive by consuming human flesh, and they possess enhanced physica abilities and regenerative powers. To avoid detection, many ghouls live in disguise among the human population. The narrative follows Ken Kaneki. a shv and book-loving university student who unknowingly goes on a date with a ghou named Rize Kamishiro.
