@s_loxodontaafricana: The African Elephant (Loxodonta africana) DYK : Despite their tough appearance, an elephant's skin is very sensitive and can get sunburned. A thick coating of mud acts as a natural sunscreen blocking harmful rays from the sun. Elephants have very few sweat glands, so they can't cool down easily like humans. The wet mud helps them regulate their body temperature, it creates a prolonged cooling effect. The dried mud layer forms a protective barrier that deters biting insects and helps keep parasites like ticks and mites at bay. #wildlifeconservationist😌👍🏾 #wildlifelover #africanelephant #hwangenationalpark #fypシ゚
