Ngl after the first watch the whole inversion concept is actually easy to understand. Also the scene with Michael Caines character is foreshadowing of how the films final battle ends because it takes place in the past

The whole idea of the movie is the protagonists future self is helping his present self become his future self which he slowly realizes throughout the movie. He doesn’t understand at the beginning that he’s being helped he sees it as being at the right place right time or orders from a higher power but he slowly realizes it’s himself. In other words his future self made him the hero of his own story therefore the overall ‘protagonist’ the end.

This isn't why people dislike Tenet. we dislike tenet because the characters suck, the writing is bad, the premise is mediocre, the motivation of the villain is absurd, and Nolan doesn't even understand the physics he himself has created.

What I need to know is when he met Pattinson. He said there are still years of their friendship. But the first time he saw him was at the beginning of the movie and he was saying goodbye in that time direction at the end. Did Pattinson meet him years into that future, then traveled back with or without him to the time of the beginning of the film? If he went back without him then they spent years apart.
