And it’s so humiliating when I try to explain it’s ADHD and they just completely write it off as an excuse rather than an explanation

this is why i LOVE spending time alone. I feel so free and relaxed just because I don't have to worry about existing around others. If I make a miskte it's my problem and thats it.

I also catch myself getting irritated at people for not thinking of everything that could have gone wrong before doing something.

Year…but then depression makes you not care. And paranoia becomes apathy. Dear god I’m so glad I got in therapy.

You learn that your brain, your memory, everything is consistently inconsistent. You can’t trust your memory is correct, you can’t trust if you focused properly and caught all the details you needed cause your whole life has just been proving to yourself that you can’t do those things.

It’s not a matter of WILL I make a mistake but rather a WHEN I make the mistake. I have SO many different alarms on my phone that are CRUCIAL for me to just navigate everyday life

Oh! I have called this "i have either hyper-control or zero control, nothing in between" when trying to explain to others. If l loosen up, things immediately fall completely apart. To maintain functionality, l must engage ALL FOCUS ALL THE TIME.

I was put on meds in my late 30s and this is one of the biggest revelations I had about adhd. The checks and balances I had set up in my brain was so complex, and I would still come back to the moment and realize I made a mistake. then I would spend the rest of the day going over my processes in my brain to determine what I did that caused the mistake, so that I wouldn't make that mistake again.

the only way I was able to become successful in work is to make a tracker for EVERYTHING so that I could constantly have visibility on every single little tiny piece. People tell me how thorough I am. I always think 'thanks, it's the ✨paranoia✨'

Yep. It's when that hyper vigilance turns into overaction/assumptions that it becomes a serious problem/self destruction (which can feed the loop of paranoia further)
