He had no legal right to demand her ID and arrest her or handcuff the kids. This was an illegal power trip, plain and simple.

Why is it so hard for the officer to give her a reason why he wanted to see her ID? He’s responsible for unnecessarily escalating the situation. These women are beyond justified in their caution. People of color, especially black men and women, have historically been mistreated, abused, framed, and murdered by police since their inception (and even before considering the fact that police were, as a profession, previously slave catchers.)

why is it so hard to give them your identification? I always provide it and none of this happens to me.

If a police officer asks for ID, you have to provide it. Failure to do so is called Obstruction, and is a misdemeanor. Failure to obey a lawful order, such as “Stay in the car or you will be detained” is a misdemeanor. They could have just complied and been out of there in a few minutes. Instead they had to start a circus for no reason other than being obstinate. Everything this officer has done is perfectly legal. “Biggest pay out in history” my ass.

Jury Verdict (March 2023): A federal jury found deputies violated the rights of the Loggervale family (mother and two daughters) and awarded them $8.25 million for false arrest, invasion of privacy, and constitutional rights violations.
Judge's Ruling (June 2023): A federal judge upheld the massive verdict, rejecting defense claims for a new trial and calling out the county's lawyer for misleading statements, reinforcing the unlawful nature of the stop.

she actually does have to. case law, FEDERAL LAW, states must give ID when asked. she also must step out when asked. this could have absolutely been avoided by cooperation.
