The only way I can listen to an audiobook is at speed 1.7+ 💀 otherwise I will get distracted by my thoughts, despite my best effort. Reading „with my eyes” keeps me more busy than listening to anything (usually people talk to me all day long, so I am used to do things while actively listening at the same time) so a higher speed is crucial to keep me focused. However, I never go beyond 2x anymore, because I want to be able to catch everything about the story.

lotr narrated by phil dragesh is my favorite audiobook to date, i highly recommend it if you’re looking for a recommendation. i’m going to look into frankenstein.
