As a public servant in my 50s the ERI that was announced is very appealing. My job is a tough one but it’s secure; I’d be happy to pass it on to someone younger who needs job stability.

there are tons of public servants that should be retired but they are just taking up a seat, working a few hrs a week while milking the system. let the young ppl in and get full time employment rather than stay on contract.

There’s never going to be a perfect budget for everyone, but I trust the guy that has a doctorate in economics to guide us through these times.

I liked the budget overall. And I like confidence the government and especially Mark Carney, are showing they are willing to move this country in the right direction.

I heard the cut for public sector will be mainly natural attrition and retirement, and not replacing the positions. didn't hear you mention about the budget allocated for wooing talents into the country which I find it quite fascinating especially when many are fleeing US.

good summary buddy. what other indicators would you see other than debt to GDP? to say current debt levels are reasonable. buffet also mentions that this metric has its own flaws

I would have preferred a corporate tax benefit/write-off incentivizing an increase in compensation for low-paid employees. e.g., If they increase compensation for employees to above $60,000, then the get some benefit for that, tiered to how much they increased compensation. Or similarly, an incentive to reduce CEO/executive compensation if that reduction is used to pay the lowest-paid employees more.

I don't like the corporate tax break (but this is a less bad way to do it) but I am very suspicious of how this infrastructure building and resource extraction would impact the environment. we're too far north to not take climate change seriously

Generally positive, but I have two complaints: not much new money for Indigenous programs (mostly recurring investment. What happened to reconciliation?); and the budget proposes to eliminate the luxury tax on private aircraft and certain boats... wtf!?!

So I work in a mine that is one of the 5 major projects recently announced. All of the sudden within a month of that announcement permits are being fast tracked. Once the investments in this mine have come to fruition, the end result will be job losses because of automation, owned my an American company. I'm still trying to figure this out but doesn't seem like the workers here will benefit. The company will with the big infrastructure spend and tax deduction, not the workers, least definitely not long term. Don't get me wrong, changes need to be made but there will be a lot of suffering and still wondering who will really gain

Very good breakdown! I want to quibble with the debt to gdp ratio because health care spending is handled by provinces. That alleviates a lot of that ratio off the feds. Even the US has to consider Medicare and Medicaid.

Making a bid to join Eurovision the same year as a major push to boycott in solidarity with Palestine is pretty gross.

Shame we're about to lose a great amount of knowledge when he cuts jobs for public servants. Adding to the unemployment cited in the budget isnt helping anyone. Canadians shouldnt need to sacrifice at a time where they rehired public servants to meet demand. ☹️

Thank you for your breakdown and the positive take. Infrastructure in the north makes building homes cheaper. If sewer, gas and electricity is already in an area, contractors are more likely to build in that area.

A few videos before yours I heard someone talking about social spending and I guess they are decreasing that. I'm literally in the middle of cooking supper and I haven't looked into that yet but that will be concerning if that's true because I guess they were increasing by almost 8% a year and they're putting it down a few percentages and people are already struggling. Again haven't confirmed that yet but it's troublesome if true

so if a private sector company bought machinery or something that improved efficiency let's say robotics or even something along that line yes that might improve efficiency but with that also not replace workers?

Infrastructure. You missed the fact that to build that infrastructure we will need more people to do those jobs. I hope people in sectors that are affected by the tariffs & possibly disappearing entirely (ie auto) will consider these jobs. Similar to people that went from other provinces going to Ft McMurray. We will need to adapt & pivot.🇨🇦❤️❤️
