Before you comment, consider the following: Distinct between fiction and reality. I cannot stress this enough. The Grabber IS a fictional character, and still people will treat him like the real deal just because he was "based" on John Wayne Gacy. Well, at most I would call it loosely inspired by, as there are too many dissimilarities between these two. Learn the distinction between "based on" and "inspired by". However, at the end of the day, he remains a fictional character. Nothing else. He is not John Wayne Gacy, vice versa. Therefore, there is no need to constantly comment: "Oh, he's based on...". Even if the things portrayed in fiction can represent real life scenarios, as do 90% of the movies, it does not make them real. The events of The Black Phone 1 and 2 are fictional and do not affect our day-to-day life, regardless of what they may or may not be inspired by. On top of that, liking a character does not equal condoning his actions. The Grabber is a very intriguing character, nevertheless. Do not threaten, harass, and defame others, including me (although it already applied to me two years ago), on the basis of liking or even just editing a non-existent character. I have seen comments and posts implying or even outright stating that people who like The Grabber are pedophiles themselves. A very dangerous claim to make, and can easily lead to a case of defamation. However, generally speaking, based on some people's logic, we should not be able to like or consider any character, especially villains, as intriguing anymore, just because they have done bad things. Although weird... I do not see anyone putting up the same kind of attitude when it comes to characters who are just as bad or even worse. The selectiveness leaves room for hypocrisy. Not to mention that, by editing The Grabber, we also show appreciation for Ethan's portrayal and acting. It would not be fair to him to disregard that role just because it is evil. There are bigger issues happening all around us, and a fictional character should not be one of them. Have a good one.
