Yes! Owning a task is so important. CPE. Conception, planning, execution! You own all parts of the task. Because the conception and planning is often the invisible labor.

My husband and I do this but we call them “blue or pink chores”. There are some “purple” chores but not many!

Are we so cooked as a society that people think 50/50 means splitting each task 50%?🙄

Ok but you’re both doing 100 before you get into a relationship. Both people should be able to do 100 without having to ask the other person how to do it. Women give men too much slack in being self sufficient adults.

Is there way to get around the quantity of things you own 100% being “equal” so you don’t feel like well I’m owning 5 tasks so you should have 5

My husband does 100% of the dishes, the animals, and the outside. I do 100% of the laundry, the daily cleaning, and the cooking. Together we do the deep cleaning, the family planning, and we always grocery shop together. He makes sure all the bills are paid and I make sure there is money in each of the accounts to pay the bills and I do the future financial planning things. It’s been so nice to just know what I need to do. Plus I’ve only had to do dishes once in 5 years so that’s a win right there!

I looove this! We’ve always believed that if you liked something to be done a certain way (I hang a lot of my clothes instead of drying them and he couldn’t care less) then you pick to do that chore 100% of the time. It causes way less arguments and it’s always done correctly!

I do all dishes all the time… Obviously sometimes he helps me… He does all laundry all the time… Obviously sometimes I help him. It’s the best system I swear

yes!! my therapist called it being captains of different chore buckets. so you take the lead and are expected to ensure it gets done, but the other person helps support when needed.

My husband and I have naturally shifted to this more and more and it’s amazing. I literally don’t even register “his” tasks unless he’s out of town or ridiculously busy. I also really love being able to take on his chores when he has a lot going on because it truly feels like doing something nice for him instead of doing a chore
