@nathanmorrismusic: Funeral directors, STOP saying this! 🚨 Oversharing can hurt grieving families. Here’s how to communicate with care instead. Comment if you’ve made this mistake! #FuneralTips #GriefCare #DirectorOS #FuneralDirector #MusicianMortician
Ours said “the cool thing about cremation…” like dude, that’s my 15 year old baby brother. Nothings “cool” about this

DON'T call them Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, because that person is NOT YOUR parent or grandparent. Call the person by name, or YOUR parent/grandparent.

At a cousin's funeral, the director kept calling her "the body." "Then, we'll move the body into the sanctuary." I've worked in the funeral business, and that was the least cool move I've ever seen from a funeral director.

The funeral director for my granny asked us if there was anything she may want to make her more comfortable while he looked after her. We gave him her blanket so she would be warm and he took such great care with it

My beautiful mum died in High Dependency 8 months ago and the one thing that sticks in my mind is the Funeral Director asking me if it was ok for her to take my mum into their care ❤😢

I’m a vet clinic receptionist and your videos have honestly been really helpful for how I phrase things when checking in euthanasia appointments 💖

Yes! Every single family i say "Would you prefer the morning or afternoon" and then decide a time from there and always "if anything changes, please give me a call and we can reschedule if needed"

I have no business in the funeral industry but I followed you solely for the compassion you exude. Thank you for being so kind to people during their most vulnerable time.

I wish the funeral home that took care of my mother and grandmother was this communicative. Didn’t call to tell me the state of Florida had a hack and they couldn’t cremate because they had to refill out the paperwork for death cert. it took 6 weeks!

Outstanding. When the decision was made to remove life support from my mother, the funeral director waited for us to decide and process.

My mum asked the FD so many morbid (to others) questions and they answered so truthfully and politely. I was in awe. If you can handle that job in a way that supports the living, you're amazing.

I appreciate the advice about saying "do you /want/", one time a veterinarian office said to me "So you want to euthanize your pet?" like no id rather be doing anything else 😭

When my mother passed away and they came to take her away. ( she passed at home) I stood in the door as they put her in the vehicle. The gentleman turned looked at me , bowed his head and then turned and closed the door. To me this was so touching. Almost as if to say , stand down we’ve got her now.

Thank you for being so caring and compassionate. When my son was stillborn, the funeral directory tried to talk us out of cremation because “we might lose the ashes”. He definitely made us feel like a transaction rather than a grieving family

We were panning our dad’s funeral. All sisters in agreement on everything. Director out of nowhere said “you know Shelly doesn’t have a claim to anything. She’s just the step sister “. I have amazing sisters. They were horrified. We have no idea what prompted her to say that about me

Odd as it sounds I have to stress some of this with my firefighters. I get that responding to a medical emergency gets to be routine, but this is still the worst day of the PT and family's life in many cases. Keep it professional, don't be talking about where you're going to eat after, etc.

An education in that profession is an education in how to be a gentleman, sounds simple but you either have "it" or you don't.

I tell families not to worry right now, take care of themselves. I will give them a call as soon as their loved one is safely at the funeral home and then we can discuss when we can sit down and have a talk. All of our facilities are in one building (crematory, prep room, all of it) so once they arrive at the facility, they do not leave until they're either going to their service or going home after cremation.

I love the way you explain things. I’m a student in funeral services and this definitely puts things into a perspective my classes do not
