Banks: And if we call interest "bonus interest," then we can totally justify not paying any interest at all for anyone who didn't follow the weird "rules" we set up AND we get to disguise our money laundering for billionaires because EVERYONE will be moving large sums of money around at the start/end of each month to fulfil the "rules" AND we can demand that they upload their gov't ID to some "approved" app entity to be stored indefinitely & shared offshore, even though banks used to only require ID once at acct setup & it wasn't stored online but eyeballed by real person. So we get to harvest all their spending data to sell AND not pay them interest AND keep their gov't IDs, AND post record profits AND get bailed out by taxpayers funds if we get politicians to muck with the economy too hard because we're "too big to fail."

And if they balls it up and leak your data, somehow they’re not to blame. Or not entirely. Somehow you’re partially to blame.

This is completely false, it is not how banking works at all. It's the continuation of myths that have no bearing with reality. As per the banking act of Australia 1959, which is taken from British law first established through British common law in Foley v Hill in 1848 when you make a deposit into a bank account that money legally ceases to be yours. Banks do NOT hold your money in trust. Instead when you make a deposit you are in fact making a (potentially interest free) loan to the bank. The money ceases to be yours and becomes the legal property of the bank. You become a creditor to whom they owe money, however like all creditors they can simply default. That is why we have the government banking guarantee where your tax dollars are used to repay the money the bank defaulting owes you up to a set limit and not beyond. Similarly, banks do not use customer deposits to make loans, this is another myth. Under fractional reserve banking in fact the loan itself creates the money for the borrower out of thin air. This creates double profit for the bank in the form of both the created money that must be paid "back" to the bank and in the form of interest charged on the money the bank created from nothing. The RBA did quite a good write up on this concept in 2018 titled simply "Money in the Australian economy" and you can see the relevant part highlighted in the attached image. So what do banks do with your deposits? They use it to buy up commidities, futures, bonds, hard assets, other currencies, and assorted other financial assets. This system allows them to devalue the domestic currency (inflation) while profiting from that devaluation through their asset purchases. Banking is a far bigger scam than most people realise.
