@twodotingdads: It takes a special kind of courage to place your baby for adoption in the hope they'll have a better life - and then come back just weeks later, after bub is healing from surgery, to say goodbye again. That's strength in its purest form. Thanks to the one and only Ryan from @Toni and Ryan for opening up about his adoption journey.

Now THAT is a mother’s love. She wanted the best for you, even if it meant someone else giving you that 🥹

Wow to leave a second time after holding your child for days would be rough. You're already struggling with the decision, probably traumatized, and then to go back and stay for a few more days.. that takes immense strength and determination. I'm glad she was strong for herself and I hope they both got the very best outcome possible

My mum put me in care when I was 1 cause like she had just ran from my abusive “dad”, she did things that she didn’t want to just so she could get money to buy the food for me and her but really just me and there was her mental health too, it was all just too much for her and I have never blamed her for any of it even when I knew nothing as a child. Giving up your own child to give them a better chance at life will always be the most loving thing a person could do, a huge sacrifice aswell that took so much away from her and all women that have been through it too.

not going to lie. this is exactly what I felt or feel. my birth mother gave me up when I was born, technically I was taken off her because it was a little bit by force. by her mother, and she obviously had issues to work off with her mum. but for me, I was always very grateful for the gift that my birth mother gave me of giving me up. I have never once had an ounce of resentment towards her only gratitude.

This is so hard but that literally saved you from having RAD which is such a gift. Kids with RAD need so much help to adjust. This is a great story.

As an adopted person with a similar story it’s always hard to hear Ryan talk about his experiences (I’m a long term listener of his podcast) but grateful he has shared. The main difference is he’s met his bio Dad I haven’t and I’m okay with that. I met my biological Mum and I can both hold space for her and know that there are reasons it’s best for us not to be in each others lives. I am grateful everyday to the two beautiful humans who not only took me home and became my parents but were/are wonderful parents to my kids.
