1) Many LGBTQ people grow up in environments where they feel they have to hide who they are, or fear rejection or harm if they are open about themselves. Living with that kind of internal conflict and secrecy can lead to choices or patterns that someone may later regret. This doesn’t excuse any harmful actions, but it does help explain the emotional and psychological circumstances that can shape a person’s behavior. Understanding that context allows for a fuller, more compassionate picture of someone’s experience. 2) In a locker room, everyone deserves to feel safe and respected. If anyone is acting in a way that makes others uncomfortable, that behavior should be addressed and reported. This applies to everyone equally, regardless of gender or sexual orientation. The focus is on conduct, not identity. 3) Also, Tish Hyman did not simply voice her concern. She yelled anti trans things in the middle of the gym. She’s also a lesbian and should understand that her orientation may make people uncomfortable, but not letting lesbians into the locker room would be ridiculous. The same applies for trans women.
