My father has always been the type of guy women are advised against. Drunkard, alcoholic, constant fights, quarrels. But he always did one thing well - when it came to my mother going out, whether to visit a friend, to work, or even just to get out of the house, he was able to take care of the children. Usually we were more noisy, we were more self-sufficient than he was able to find something for us to do, but if necessary he could keep us busy for long hours, often make food from leftovers, or give us snacks. He wasn't the best father or husband, but he did have one thing in mind—children are a shared responsibility. I mean, we always looked for the mother first, but that was probably out of some instinct, or the fact that my father was drunk, but even if we were dying, my father was able to manage the wreckage, even when completely devastated. And we were living children.
