I call myself out anytime I recognize anything that I could have done better. I try so hard to give him what I needed, while also checking in with him to see if there is anything he thinks I can do better. Some days I think I overcompensate but I’m still healing so… ✨💜

What do you say to the estranged parent client? The one that has no empathy… for some reason these are the clients I am getting

My teen gets onto me for shhhsing my own mom and says, “let her talk!” So I say, “UGH! You’re right. The way YOU feel about me is how I feel about her. Us moms are annoying!”

Exactly. All it takes is being able to have real conversations. But if you can’t do that and then someone outside your home has to intervene and then there is deception… it will be too late. If you can’t have those kinds of moments with your children then there will be a moment where the opportunity to “be a parent” is lost. Then, you can have a one-to-one relationship. But not a PARENT relationship. My “parents” were never my parents so they have no business pretending to be when I’m in my 30s. At that point it’s a boundary violation.

I get on my own nerves. It would be unreasonable for me to expect to not get on theirs…

Really appreciate your content it has taught me so much understanding for my 8 yr old daughter & 25 yr long relationship. Ive recently been trying to accept/be honest with my “annoying” momisms/wifeisms & using your techniques & I just want to thank u, the humor/joy that has come back into our lives is refreshing. There’s always been love & now more understanding 💗🫶🏼💗

I used to get chastised for repair with my kid. “You’re too soft. You’re giving in”. And they would literally tell me “she’s being manipulative”. I was so confused. But now, at 18, watching her literally state the difference between the friends she surrounds herself with by “well, they both do it (a crappy behavior), but this one friend takes accountability. And she calls me out too when I’m being sus.” THIS is the reward.

God this makes me feel so much relief. My kids are 14 and 11 and I analyze my parenting 50x more than I did when they were younger.

not accurate - my kids laughed and joked and talked about everything, but I wasn't fully healed -my son went no contact a little over a year ago - we've been rebuilding for the past 4 months and Im also a no contact child - I can EASILY say - yes kids go no contact with good parents and they never do it for no reason and it's the parent's job to listen even to the silence and it's the parent's job to lead in the rebuilding

I have this reaction and then sometimes my reaction is "ok now I know your perspective. That probably won't get you results you're looking for so let's rephrase it" whats a better thing to say??

THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR!!! I keep being told I let my kids get away with too much with how they talk to me. But, I’m always like.. I get where they are coming from. I remember feeling this way. And I have continually worried I need to be more strict and I’m doing it wrong… which I’m sure I am, because who does it all right? lol. But, I’m glad at least I’m seeing where I mess up and never shutting my kids feelings down and showing them my love and compassion to learn from and taking accountability for my mistakes. That it’s ok to mess up.

You are my new favorite creator on this app. As a parent, I am always reflecting trying to determine how I can do better for my kids because I understand that I am responsible for how they interact with others their whole life.

I have a question i’d love your input on: My daughter (4) struggles with “I can’t do it” language. Especially by comparison to me. She gets upset and frustrated when we color together and stuff because I’m better at it than her. I feel like an as*hole, and tell her she just needs practice. I’m caught between “don’t dim your shine and give her something to aspire to,” and “you are making your child feel like a failure.” I LOVE coloring. I’m a calligrapher and I’ve been doing it for over 20 years. I can’t be bad at it if I tried. How can I share this with her without making her feel bad? How do I teach her how to understand that it’s okay to not be great at something right away and it takes practice?
