So you went with the social media version instead of the evidence based approach, it didn’t work, and now gentle parenting is ineffective? It sounds like the correct response in g.p. Would be acknowledging your child’s feelings finding out if there is a source for their desire to not go to school if that is something that can be rectified like a problem with the student or teacher or difficulties in learning that’s something you can talk to your child about and make it a mission to actually deal with the issue at hand because they don’t want to go to school because they don’t want to go to school. The gentle response would be acknowledge that as I’ve been unfortunately in life, there are some things that no matter how much we don’t want to do we do to doand getting an education is one of them

I’m glad you said this! I go with the motto of ‘fair but firm’ so similar to your ‘kind but firm’. Gentle parenting was easy with my daughter, but with my SON, he needed something different because he was exhausting me and I couldn’t do it anymore! So I do what works for us

It’s intriguing to me that we have been parenting for thousands of years and yet every generation thinks they have the perfect solution. Gentle parenting will be as outdated as Dr Spock in a generation.
