Almost every part of the car is/shoukd be over-engineered to handle 'normal stress' by a very large factor than is considered normal. The point of failure should well be above mere dry steering. This one is on the product manufacturer, don't settle for mediocrity folks.

there is nothing wrong with dry steering. you get more wear on the tyres from going over a bump! I'll just stop driving my car on the road then I won't wear my tyres...
