Definitions are important, so I'm looking forward to the article by Milam (it sounds like the definition you cited may be problematic, which makes it sound quite interesting to me).

Thanks for the recommendations. I rather enjoy a philosophical approach sometimes (my perspective is influenced by familiarity with a few mathematical abstractions). Many others find it tiresome, but to each their own!
