@missclairebenjamin: How to respond to devious comments… Sometimes people share information with you to undermine you or make you feel unsteady. We can often sense when someone may not have the best of intentions. There is information that’s helpful to share with people and there’s information that is only going to cause harm. If you need to share difficult information that you know could cause upset then it needs to be delivered in a supportive way. Always ask yourself “Is sharing this going to be helpful or harmful” If you are on the receiving end of information you can sense could be being shared to belittle you or undermine you then I would recommend asking the person to clarify their intention for sharing it and if you feel uncomfortable move the conversation on. You can always explore what they shared directly with the people involved. 💬 Have you ever been in a situation like this? What did you do? 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised and will not fit every situation. I had a colleague tell me, "They really took a chance with hiring you!" 😳

If they didn’t want to give Claire the job they wouldn’t have done. It doesn’t really matter if two people were offered it beforehand and turned it down. She wanted it and they wanted her so sounds like a good outcome to me!

Instantly in my mind I already thought calmly “well, I’m a big believer in everything happens for a reason so I’m here now”.

I’m a retired doctor, previously in higher management responsibilities. I was always very kind, and that was my default position. But it cost me loads in the form of my mental health. If we had only been given some training as leaders it might have helped xx

I was in a job share with someone who told me that her and my manager hadn’t even wanted the job share. Manager was there and didn’t say anything. I didn’t react but reported her. She got away with it though and I decided to leave
