I live near you, i am a linguist and used to teach English to teenagers although have been working in the private sector for years now. I’m willing to help you if you want. If you are interested, there are many possibilities in terms of affordable language schools in Brussels(cpab.be). What you can do right away is listen to the radio in French, watch French movies, tv series (with subtitles) and read, read, read as much as you can. You strart with easy things and today with technology, you can get immediately explanations for words you don’t understand.

you need either friends or roommates that don't speak English, or even better a girlfriend that is french speaking.. cause even if you learn french in a school environment.. you'd never will be able to navigate how people really speak vs what is taught in an schooling environment.. qnd if you can't do neither, i would recommend to watch as much videos/films in the french language with English subtitles

I know it’s almost impossible to switch the language in your relationship, but if your girlfriend tries to speak french to you and you respond in english as much as possible it makes a huuuge difference

Here’s what worked for me when I wanted to get better in English back in hs I switched all my social media and entertainment (movies, series, books, etc) in English and removed the subtitles or put them in English (like instead of being French subtitles I put English subtitles if they speak too fast) I tried to write comments in English, got into chat rooms and texted in English like whenever I had the occasion to express myself in English I did. Also you literally live in a French speaking city (I didn’t have that lol) just go out speak to people take a sport or something where everyone speaks in French and try to socialize you will be fine I believe in you

I would advice two things: The first is to do activities you enjoy in French so you can practice while having fun. You learn a language better when it is memorized through action and emotion. Then take part in conversation tables led by professionals: "La Maison de la Francité "organizes these. "la Maison de la Francité" could be a good place to contact Bonne chance
