I think the emotionally neglected child to codependant best friend pipeline is a canon event

I experienced the same thing 3-4 years ago. I am not the same in friendships since… I keep a distance now…

The position of BEST FRIEND may never reopen in my life . I have a lot of close friends I keep at arms length but my openness and goodness in such close proxy may never happen again

Are you living my life? 😅 My synchronicity with your videos is so crazy. I hope you know how immensely helpful your vulnerability is for people like me who are also going through it! ❤️

For me it was in 2023. My ex best friend of 17 years. Worse than any breakup I’ve ever had. But at the end of it I wanted to grow and she didn’t want to

So deeply and sadly relatable. Very few people understand.

I had a similar story but I was the so called „codependent” one, and to be honest, 5 years later and after a lot of therapy, I don’t think it was a crime to desire that deep connection, especially when you are healing from your own trauma, and I still dont get why I had to recieve such an awful and cruel „lesson” from her. The cruelty she acted with will forever be baffling to me and I dont think one can come back from that.

mine was a year ago, completely shocked me I thought it was my healthiest friendship of my life and longest. She gave me zero answers which required so much stomaching sick feeling to accept as an answer

15 years, and I loved her so much. I don't think I'll ever have a friendship like that again. we were almost telepathic. lots of unpacking here too. I was definitely acting out mother wounds - I can't speak for her. despite it all I'm glad I had that love and friendship and hilarity in my life. but life changes and I'm changed. i don't think I could have that kind of relationship again.

i hate that so many of us have this same experience because it's PAINFUL. it's kind of comforting to see someone speak on something you've also experienced, but then you realize that so many others have had to feel that same pain.. that's really sad 😔

I had this happen too, It was so heartbreaking. It was one of the relationships that taught me the most. I also felt so damn confused by the end of It. How could something that was so good and “toxic” end so badly

After my now 3rd friend breakup, I will never be close to anyone like I was in my 20’s. My heart is broken from all three in different ways. I have grown and changed but I will never have close friends like that again.

Trauma bonds can only grow better if both people are committed to working through difficult conversations together. Taking accountability is crucial. Often, however, people resist responsibility and deflect, which makes the process much harder. 😔 I felt exactly like how you described until my flaws was being judged, monitored, and demanded me to change under conditions, which tear me into pieces. Then my vulnerabilities was used against me as a blame for the fallout. It was painful.

Ugh this, except we broke up twice and she refused to even have a conversation with me. The projection and gaslighting was unreal and her actions ensured I won’t open that door again.

There was something between you, a true understanding of each others journeys. Very special. Sometimes those relationships aren’t boundaried very well. Other relationships may indeed be missing something, the understanding of each other but they will have gifts to offer you as well. I don’t think you need to bucket it, love her and remember her fondly. But know you may be being challenged to heal and grow outside of your traumas. Just thoughts. Great insights processing this.

They were my first proper friend I made as an adult. The fallout was so confusing and I still don’t really know who I am since

Ughhhh my codependent bestie died before we could address our boundaries 💔 best friends for 28 years. Went through so many shared traumas. She was my everything.

My best friend breakup left me feeling the same way last year. I haven’t been able to find the words, but feeling confused about what connection really means to me is spot on. I haven’t been able to trust myself. We were pretty trauma bonded, and her wedding planning brought it all to a head. It all collided and ended abruptly over a text. We were both guilty of weaponizing the understanding we had of each other when we were faced with this challenge, and then it was all over in an instant.

I’ve never heard anyone talk about this. I went through this in June. I still don’t really know the depth of the why’s. Was it co-dependence? Was it trauma? Was it the empath & the narcissist? I pulled back for my own safety. It was painful and dramatic—but the relief I felt—immediately—helped validate my instincts to leave. From afar, sometimes, I do ache sometimes. I long to be understood and cherished in the ways I felt seen with her. Safe. But it was vampiric. I was used to that; I just didn’t know it could happen with women, too. I’ve weathered the shame of my own ignorance, but trusting myself? Ugh. It is really hard to want to begin again.
