Yes it is very remote. The winter temperatures are brutal. The game and wildlife is unlike anything you've ever experienced. Depending on how remote you go you could go months without seeing another human.

We’ve been twice and we are going back again this summer. It’s beyond anything you’ve ever seen. Do the road trip. The cruise isn’t as good as it’s just okay.

I’ve been a couple of times and it is spectacular. I’d love to live there someday, but it’s definitely not for the faint of heart. Even in Anchorage it stays cold all winter.

I have family in Anchorage AK. You should definitely give it a visit. The cold is very different from the lower 48. I’m from Georgia and as you can see from the photo of my snow hike, I took my top coat off bc I got a bit warm in the snow.

Girl I felt the same way about Alaska after reading The Great Alone and then work sent me there in February. It was insane. I’ve never seen anything like it. Alaska ruined travel for me. I went all out and I’m still financially recovering.

Alaska is beautiful. The water is crystal clear. In the summer it only gets as dark as dusk. But I could never live there. The cold and darkness in the winter alone would be too much.

Life is different in Alaska. A mistake can cost your life. It might be weather, it might be bears or wolves, it could be isolation and lack of food. It’s rugged.
