Er nurse here… he needs to have a full septic work up… he would be flagged if i were in triage.. 1.bc of recent surgery 2.fever .. even if his incision looks good i would push for septic work up.

Paramedic here! Sepsis immediately comes to mind. Especially post surgery. Especially to that area of the body. The ER absolutely needs to do blood work to see if his WBC’s are elevated! The high temp screams infection and if he wasn’t positive on swabs be absolutely needs to have blood work drawn to check for an infection. You’re absolutely not doing too much. Instinct is key!

Just a wild guess, but wonder if they recounted all surgical instruments, sponges etc. after the surgery? Maybe they left something inside. Good luck.

They didn’t do any bloodwork yet? That’s just insane to me! He just had surgery and the infection may not even be visible to the eye! Lethargy is when I start to really worry! Mommas gut instincts aren’t ever wrong! Don’t let them send you home without more tests!

Run all bloodwork. Make them do it. Check for sepsis, mono, walking pneumonia. Could be anything. So many possibilities. A fever indicative of something much bigger going on.

Why are you waiting? Go to another ER have them run labs and scans... You don't want a tragedy, he needs IV drugs too and I feel its mono. 🤔

I went septic from mastitis while on antibiotics. And i had very similar symptoms. I ended up needing IV antibiotics. Trust your momma gut! 🩷
