@classicallyclare: Anthony Bourdain was (and remains) one of my heroes. Growing up as a third culture kid, I found solace in travel. I didn’t feel completely at home in Singapore, and I was constantly reminded of my foreignness in the United States. One of my lifelong goals is to visit every country in the world. And even though I’ve got about 50 countries stamped in my passport… There’s still much I want to explore. I love books so much because it allows you to experience a thousand lives. I love traveling because it reminds me that we’re more alike than we are different. That and our differences make the world so interesting and vibrant. I don’t have a favorite country or a least favorite. Like star ratings for books, it feels reductive. How can I make a snap judgment of a place that I’ve only experienced for a number of weeks? Every place I’ve been to was memorable for a different reason. My goal was to reach 100 countries by 35. But I’m also a lot more careful with how I travel and what my money as a tourist funds. So maybe it’ll take a while. But i’m not in a rush. 🖤 there’s plenty to learn about people, places, and things through literature.
