BREAKING: American pilot Nicholas F. Gosselin was shot dead and his plane set on fire by separatist rebels in Yahukimo, Highland Papua, on July 2nd. This is a decades-old conflict — Papua has fought for independence from Indonesia since the 1960s — but it's escalating. TPNPB says it will now fire on ANY civilian aircraft it believes is supporting Indonesian military logistics in rebel-held territory. That puts every pilot flying into the highlands at risk, regardless of nationality. The U.S. Embassy in Jakarta has yet to comment. Indonesian authorities are still investigating.
