1. I probably shouldn’t have become a nurse. It’s a stable career and I’m grateful for everything it’s given me. But if I’m honest, my true passion has always been law, and I should have pursued becoming a lawyer instead. That realization came later than I expected. 2. I helped build a business that didn’t financially support our family. I racked up about $45k in debt to open it. I kept reinvesting, hoping it would eventually become sustainable. I loved what we were building — we just couldn’t scale it to where the hard work paid off. 3. I carried the financial weight of our household on one income. I was taught to handle my responsibilities and make sure the bills were paid. So I carried that burden mostly alone, instead of speaking up and asking for help from my spouse. It was exhausting in a way I didn’t talk about much. 4. I probably shouldn’t have pursued my PhD. I always believed education was something to be proud of. But halfway through, I realized my heart wasn’t in it and it wouldn’t increase my income. Finishing it out of obligation created a different kind of burnout. 5. I lived in constant survival mode. I was always fixing, planning, and holding everything together. Rest felt irresponsible, even when I desperately needed it. I didn’t realize how disconnected from myself I had become. 6. Becoming a mother changed my entire world more than I ever expected. I thought I’d always be the career-first woman who found her identity in work. Now I crave slowness, presence, and more time with my daughter. Because I know I can’t get that time back. 7. I finally admitted that working harder while staying stuck felt worse than trying something different. I didn’t have it all figured out. I just knew nothing was going to change if I didn’t change something. And that decision mattered. I don’t regret my life. I just understand myself better now. If you stayed with me through this, thank you. I’m really glad you’re here. 🫶🏻 #mama #millennialsoftiktok #millennialmom
