These people are acting like if you did not make boats out of pumpkins. That they would have enough pumpkins to stop the hunger crisis. Which yeah, that needs to be fixed and things need to be done about it. But your pumpkin isn't going to fix it. You having a hobby and enjoying this hobby hurts nobody and is not a massive waste of food.

These aren't food. At least, not in any meaningful sense. They don't taste good. And as far as resources, they take water and maybe some fertilizer, and a bunch of time. It's a hobby; people are allowed to have them. I am a huge activist against food waste, but that's not what this is. Again, these aren't food except in that they are technically edible. If these are food, so are Wax Begonias, Queen Anne's Lace, and fucken acorns.
