Telling my husband exactly what you said about not being in love with him is why our marriage is ending. I felt guilty for so many years and struggled with whether or not I was in love with him. I do love him but he hasn’t valued me in a very long time. There is no reverence. Thank you for this. It’s very informative and helpful.

“We traded community for autonomy”. That’s where capitalism gained its strangle hold. Everything that used to be free with community is now monatized and industrialized.

Not a compatibility issue it’s a capacity issue. Great for pointing this out. People aren’t willing to carry that mental load for another person . Which is fair.

I like that you brought the idea of “capacity” to the table. It is about how much we can hold, emotionally and physically, and the electricity of that special connection between two people. The power, experience, and understanding that fuels the relationship over and over can we keep producing that energy? Can it be maintained for an extended time? Can it be over-stressed beyond its capacity? Can it constantly be refueled and expand? Are we asking too much or can we be more flexible than we imagine? Maybe, because some relationships bloom and rebloom for a lifetime. I hope for all of us we keep blooming in all our journeys together or as individuals.

This is why most Europeans still live in multigenerational homes and everyone in the neighborhood helps each other. They didn't understand this individualistic society we've created. It's what causes depression, anxiety, fear, etc. We really do need to get back to community.

I love that you call it 'capacity'. I have been saying this for awhile now, I don't have the capacity for a relationship right now.

The algorithm recommended you to me. I saw both part 1 and 2 and I want to thank you for this insightful post. I read some things on the history of marriage so some info was familiar but I still learned some things. I'm a wedding officiant - and it has given me alot to think about and process. How do we rethink about marriage? How do you make a marriage work in an individualistic society? And how do we balance our need to be individuals and our need to be part of a "village"? And if marriage is to evolve, maybe we need to rethink divorce. So many people are afraid to get married because they are afraid to get divorce, even afraid to lose too much money. But maybe just because a marriage ends in divorce, doesn't mean the marriage was never meant to be. Both marriage and divorce is a part of "God's plan." And if we are looking for someone who celebrates us, well that explains why I have started asking myself, am I tolerated or celebrated here? I will be rewatching these videos in the future and giving some more thought. And I will also buy 1 of the books you reference to. Would love to read more about this. Thanks again. ❤️🙏🏾
