@thebudgetmom: Welcome to my Budget by Paycheck Method series, where I break down every step in my method — the same one that’s helped thousands of people take back control of their money and finally create a budget that actually works in real life. Step Three of the Budget by Paycheck Method: Identifying Regular Bills. This step is all about understanding your necessities — the things that keep your household running every single month. When you know exactly what your regular bills are, you’ll have clarity on what it truly costs to live your current life — and you’ll be able to create a bare-bones budget if you ever need it. Here’s how to do it 👇 🗓️ 1. List every recurring bill. Rent or mortgage, utilities, internet, cell phone, insurance, childcare, subscriptions, debt payments — anything that repeats monthly. 💵 2. Write down the due date and amount. You can do this in your Budget by Paycheck Workbook, a planner, or on your phone. Having due dates in one place helps you plan paycheck timing later in the method. 📊 3. Total them up. This total shows you how much of your income is already committed each month. What’s left becomes the foundation for your variable spending, saving, and goals. 💡 4. Identify your “must-haves.” Ask yourself, “What do I truly need to keep my life functioning?” These are your essentials — your bare-bones bills. Creating a bare-bones budget isn’t something to be afraid of. It’s a backup plan — a safety net that gives you confidence and peace of mind when life happens. Because when you build a strong financial foundation, you don’t just change your budget — you change your life.
