Heat does work but many joints have Teflon seals or neoprene it will destroy them. It also takes the oil out of the steel and it will rust. You can drive a nail with the rock but these days we use hammers!

If you use light oil and just tap until it opens I found it works every time. I love it. It’s not the zerk fitting, It’s the hardened grease in the joint!
