no I don't believe it. it looks like the side you peeled the patch off of is glossier which is going to reflect light and make it appear brighter, where as the other side is dry and matte which is going to allow for the natural texture to stand out more. I dare you to put a tiny dab of Vaseline under your eye and watch it give the same effect.
