We have a word for "Sea" its "Meer", almost no one uses "die See", when referring to the sea. Also we pronounce Band, the music group, the same way you would like in english

die band needs to be pronounced in English, as its taken from the English language. the way you pronounced it, ppl wouldnt understand you. das band has more options. cassettes can be also band. also fabric work like fließbandarbeit. xD

DIE See is used more poetically, more commonly ist Das Meer used for the sea. But I think in north Germany they might use “die see” still in their all day vocabulary.

I can tell ya why we sometimes use "die See" for "Meer" Its because of the English language and the North sea! The britains came to us and basically told us the name for it and we simply.. took it as the name. Thats also why the souther Germans don't use "die See" and the nothern ones do!
