Avid thrifter here the way pest control gets rid of bed bugs is intense heat. As soon as you get home with your thrift items immediately put them in the dryer for a minimum of 30 minutes THEN wash them. For books and non-clothing into a ziplock and then into the freezer!

Bed bugs are genuinely the worst things to ever get. Took me 7 months to get rid of them when I moved into a new apartment that had them. Worst experience of my life.
