@nurseinthemakingkristine: As a nursing student, sometimes I felt like the bathroom escort and also the entire transport team😅 #nursinglife #nursingschool #nursingstudent #nursingstudentproblems #futurenurse #clinicals #nursinghumor
soo confused why everyone is jumping right to bedpan…if the pt can ambulate well with a one assist with walker then you bet were going to the bathroom!! cord management is an essential skill😂

First thing I would have ask is if she need to do one or two if she did one then I would have said you have a foley which collect ur urin you can actually go without going to bathroom if the pt said no they want to do number 2 then I will ask if she want to use the bedpan and if she said no she want go on the toilet then I’ll confirm with the nurse if this patient able or even allow to get up to go to bathroom lmao

As a cNa it’s not funny that nurses pass it to us. Patients with so many cables hanging around shouldn’t be getting out of bed.

After a while you kinda get used to walking a patient with all these lines, sometimes a bed side camode can be used to stand and pivot for a BM that way you can also also change their bed sheets and assess their skin, but as always check their orders in case they’re on strict bed rest

Ask the patient if they need to do number 1 or 2 first. Then if its Number 1, the pasient stays in the bed.

became a tech over 2 years ago and in nursing school now. i wish i got trained to do all that i was just expected to know how to do all that my first day of being a pct because its “common sense” according to my old preceptor .

Why are so many set on the bedpan? Even getting them up to the comode is better than keeping them in bed all day

if the pt has all that going on…they are 99.99% likely on bed rest and have some time of urinary catheter going on or you would use a urinal/bedpan

I’m sooooo glad I work in an icu as a tech bc when I start nursing school in 2026 I won’t be as intimidated with patients and things as I would be had I not been working in an icu. And working in the icu helps teach u way more than working on a regular med surge floor. I’m so so grateful I landed this job, my nurses and docs have taught me soooooo much!!!!
